Subscribing to Public Folders/Calendars
In Entourage 2008, each time a public folder/calendar is chosen, it will completely repopulate itself as if it had never been viewed. The way to avoid this is to subscribe to it. This allows a cache of that folder/calendar to be built, and subsequent views will only need to update information added/changed since the last viewing.
- With Entourage 2008 open and the Mail icon (envelope) selected, look in the left-hand column under your Exchange account.
- The account will be named whatever you called it when you initially set up your Exchange account. You should see a listing for “Public Folders” that you can expand by clicking the arrow to the left of it. Once you expand it, you should then see two entries, “Subscribed Public Folders” and “All Public Folders”. Click the arrow to the left of “All Public Folders”. At this point, you will see several entries.
- Navigate to the selection you want, select it and right (control) click, and choose “Subscribe”.
- At this point, you are now subscribed to the public folder. For ease of use, it is a good idea to then right (control) click the entry again, then choose “Add to Favorites Bar”.
- This way the Folder/Calendar will appear in your Favorites Bar and you won’t need to traverse the folder structure to get to it again.
