This allows a user  to connect to a specific location on the server without having full  access to the server. FTP users can be created with read and\/or write  access. FTP users can be configured on the server through IIS.<\/p>\n<h2>To configure an FTP site in IIS, please follow these steps:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into your server through Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Connection.<\/li>\n<li>Create a username you would like to have FTP access to the server.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong>, <strong>Programs<\/strong>, <strong>Administrative Tools<\/strong>, <strong>Internet Services Manager<\/strong>. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp1.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Open the New FTP Site Wizard:\n<ol>\n<li>In IIS 5.0, right click the machine name and select <strong>New<\/strong>, <strong>FTP site<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In IIS 6.0, expand local machine and right click on <strong>FTP Sites<\/strong> and select <strong>New<\/strong>, <strong>FTP site<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp2.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> to begin.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a description for the site. Typically this will be the domain name for the site. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp3.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select the IP address for the site, or if the customer is using name based hosting select <strong>[All Unassigned]<\/strong> The TCP Port remains 21. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp4.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If you are using IIS 6.0 you will need to set <strong>FTP User Isolation<\/strong>. We strongly recommend you select <strong>Do not isolate Users<\/strong>. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp5.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the path to the directory you wish the user to have FTP access  to. This can be the full site directory or limited to a single sub  directory. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp6.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Set the Access Permissions, <strong>Read<\/strong> and\/or <strong>Write<\/strong>. This will control the access level the FTP user has on the files in the FTP home directory. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp7.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>. Click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once the FTP site is configured in IIS you will need to assign the FTP user you created to the FTP site.<\/p>\n<h2>To assign a user to the FTP site, please follow these steps:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Right click the FTP site you created and select <strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Security Accounts<\/strong> Tab. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp8.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Be sure <strong>Allow Anonymous Connections IS UNCHECKED<\/strong>. We do not allow Anonymous FTP access. This is a potential security risk for the server.<\/li>\n<li>Add the user to the FTP site.\n<ol>\n<li>If you are using IIS 5.0, under <strong>FTP Site Operators<\/strong>, click <strong>Add<\/strong>. Select the FTP user from the Menu and click <strong>OK<\/strong>. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hosting.com\/support\/dedicated\/iis\/iisftp\/images\/ftp9.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>If you are using IIS 6.0, right-click the FTP site and select <strong>Permissions<\/strong>.
