I could think of many ways to do this, but I found this tutorial on sevenforums.com that I liked very much and want to share with you!<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>OPTION ONE<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p>When XP is Installed First<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: red;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong> <em>If you have a RAID setup, you will need to have the Windows 7 RAID <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/fixdrivers.html\" target=\"_blank\">drivers<\/a> on a USB flash drive available to select and load while installing Windows 7<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">1. <span style=\"color: blue;\">To Create a New Partition from the XP Hard Disk Drive<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A) With your Windows 7 installation disc <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/tutorials\/682-command-prompt-startup.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">boot into the Command Prompt<\/span><\/strong><\/a> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/tutorials\/668-system-recovery-options.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">System Recovery Options<\/span><\/strong><\/a> screen.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: red;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong> <em>Make sure that the CD\/DVD drive is selected first in the boot order in the <strong>BIOS<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>B) In the command prompt, select and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/tutorials\/2672-partition-volume-shrink.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">shrink the XP volume<\/span><\/strong><\/a> by how many MB (1024 MB = 1 GB) you want to have for this Windows 7 partition. (See screenshot below)<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: red;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong> <em>You would do steps 2 to 9 in METHOD TWO at that link. (See screenshot above)<\/p>\n<p>D) Click on the X at the top right corner to close System Recovery Options. (See screenshot below)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a id=\"attachment9101\" rel=\"Lightbox_80322\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/attachments\/tutorials\/9101d1240933934-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp-xp-w7_2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP-xp-w7_2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/attachments\/tutorials\/9101d1240933934t-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp-xp-w7_2.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP-xp-w7_2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>E) Go to step 3.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">2. <span style=\"color: blue;\">To Use a Separate Hard Disk Drive than the XP Drive<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A) Boot from your Windows 7 installation disc.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong> <em>Make sure that the CD\/DVD drive is selected first in the boot order in the <strong>BIOS<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">3.<\/span><\/strong> Click on the <strong>Install now<\/strong> button. (See screenshot below)<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: red;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong><em> On some multimedia keyboards, you may need to press the <strong>F-Lock<\/strong> or <strong>Function<\/strong> key before pressing F8<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a id=\"attachment9108\" rel=\"Lightbox_80322\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/attachments\/tutorials\/9108d1240933975-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp-w7-xp-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP-w7-xp-5.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/attachments\/tutorials\/9108d1240933975t-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp-w7-xp-5.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP-w7-xp-5.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">5.<\/span><\/strong> Select the partition (step 1) or hard drive that you want to install XP on using the arrow keys and press Enter.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a id=\"attachment9109\" rel=\"Lightbox_80322\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/attachments\/tutorials\/9109d1240933975-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp-w7-xp-6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP-w7-xp-6.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/attachments\/tutorials\/9109d1240933975t-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp-w7-xp-6.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP-w7-xp-6.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">6.<\/span><\/strong> Finish installing XP.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Tip\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/images\/tipsmall.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Tip\" width=\"20\" height=\"16\" align=\"absmiddle\" \/> Tip<\/div>\n<div>If you get <strong>Error loading Operating System<\/strong> after XP restarts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using your Windows 7 installation disc, boot to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sevenforums.com\/tutorials\/682-command-prompt-startup.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">command prompt at startup<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Type in these comands below, and press enter after each one.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>bootrec \/FixMbr<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>bootrec \/FixBoot<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>bootrec \/RebuildBcd<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Exit the command prompt and restart the computer.<\/li>\n<li>At this point, Windows 7 should boot up the same way before trying to install XP.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to step 8 below and run EasyBCD from Windows 7 instead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">7.<\/span><\/strong> In XP, download and install <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&amp;displaylang=en\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.Net Framework 2.0 (32-bit) verison<\/span><\/strong><\/a> <strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: red;\">or<\/span><\/span><\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?displaylang=en&amp;FamilyID=b44a0000-acf8-4fa1-affb-40e78d788b00\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.Net Framework 2.0 (64-bit) version<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/neosmart.net\/dl.php?id=1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">EasyBCD<\/span><\/strong><\/a> for your 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86) XP.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: red;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong> <em>In XP, Net Framework is required to be installed to run the free program EasyBCD<\/em>. <em>Only the &#8220;Download free for limited, non-commercial use&#8221; at the bottom or &#8220;Older Versions&#8221; at the right are free for EasyBCD.<\/em> <em>Registration is not required for the &#8220;Older Versions&#8221; of EasyBCD.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">8.<\/span><\/strong> Run EasyBCD.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: red;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/strong> <em>This is required to repair the Windows 7 boot file and add XP to the Windows Boot Manager list<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">9.<\/span><\/strong> On the left side of EasyBCD, click on the <strong>Add New Entry<\/strong> button. (See screenshot below)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A) In the top section under <strong>Operating Systems<\/strong>, click on the <strong>Windows<\/strong> tab. (See screenshot below)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>B) To the right of <strong>Type<\/strong>, select <strong>Windows NT\/2k\/XP\/2k3<\/strong> from the drop down menu. (See screenshot below)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Warning\" src=\"http:\/\/cssimg.sevenforumscdn.com\/images\/smilies\/warnsmall.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><strong><span style=\"color: red;\">WARNING:<\/span><\/strong> <em>Be sure to leave the <strong>Automatically detect correct drive<\/strong> box checked<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>C) To the right of <strong>Name<\/strong>, you can leave the default <strong>Microsoft Windows XP<\/strong> as the name to be displayed in the Windows Boot Manager, or you can type whatever <strong>name<\/strong> you would like to have instead. (See screenshot below)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>D) Click on the <strong>A<\/strong><strong>dd Entry<\/strong> button.
