{"id":2324,"date":"2017-08-09T20:28:32","date_gmt":"2017-08-09T20:28:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsoftgeek.com\/?p=2324"},"modified":"2017-08-09T20:29:07","modified_gmt":"2017-08-09T20:29:07","slug":"join-windows-server-2016-nano-server-to-a-domain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsoftgeek.com\/?p=2324","title":{"rendered":"Join Windows Server 2016 Nano Server To A Domain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To join the Nano Server to my Active Directory domain I\u2019ll use offline Domain Join utility (Djoin.exe).<\/p>\n<p>To complete this you will need to run the Djoin command from a domain controller or from a member server joined to the domain.<\/p>\n<p>To start the process run the command line below from the command prompt tool:<\/p>\n<p>The command will create a Computer account In AD with the Name NANOSERVER05 and will create a file called NanoServer05 In the location you run the command from.<\/p>\n<p>(change text marked In Bold)<\/p>\n<pre>djoin.exe \/provision \/domain <strong>TEST<\/strong> \/machine <strong>NANOSERVER5<\/strong> \/savefile .\\<strong>filename<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows1.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"99\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After you run the command your will see the output below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows2.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And below you will see the file the command created.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows3.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"105\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below you will see the content of the file.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows4.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"352\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you have the file copy it to the Nano Server\u00a0<strong>C:\\<\/strong>\u00a0Drive using File Explorer\u00a0\\\\nanoserver\\c$<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows5.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"179\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the file Is copied to the Nano Server open a PowerShell and connect to the Nano server using the lines below:<\/p>\n<p>(Note: Change the IP address to the Nano IP address)<\/p>\n<p>The line below will add the Nano Server IP address to the Trusted Host List:<\/p>\n<pre><strong>Set-Item WSMan:\\localhost\\Client\\TrustedHosts -Value 192.168.100.20 -Concatenate<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows6.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"80\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Line below will create a PowerShell session to the Nano Server:<\/p>\n<pre><strong>Enter-PSSession -ComputerName 192.168.100.20 -Credential Administrator<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows7.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"386\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you logged on, Run the line below:<\/p>\n<pre><strong>djoin \/requestodj \/loadfile c:\\nanoserver05 \/windowspath c:\\windows \/localos<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows8.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"114\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Done, The Nano Server Is now Part of the DC, you can restart the Nano server log in to the domain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows9.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"524\" height=\"69\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.ntweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/011116_0040_JoinWindows10.png?w=525\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"jp-relatedposts\" class=\"jp-relatedposts\">\n<h3 class=\"jp-relatedposts-headline\"><em>Thanks<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To join the Nano Server to my Active Directory domain I\u2019ll use offline Domain Join utility (Djoin.exe).
