{"id":2030,"date":"2017-01-27T19:07:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-27T19:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsoftgeek.com\/?p=2030"},"modified":"2018-09-06T23:18:18","modified_gmt":"2018-09-06T23:18:18","slug":"configuring-volume-shadow-copies-vss-on-windows-server-2012-r2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsoftgeek.com\/?p=2030","title":{"rendered":"Configuring Volume Shadow Copies (VSS) on Windows Server 2012 R2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Volume Shadows Copies<\/strong> (also known as <strong>Volume Snapshot Service<\/strong> or <strong>VSS<\/strong>) is a technology developed by <strong>Microsoft<\/strong> to take restorable snapshots of a volume.<\/p>\n<p>On <em>Windows Server 2012<\/em> \/\/ <em>2012 R2<\/em> it\u2019s quite easy to set up and restore operations are pretty straightforward.<\/p>\n<p>Note: <strong>Volume Shadow Copies<\/strong> allow to restore previous states of the entire volume, you can\u2019t restore previous states of single files and\/or folders.<span id=\"more-1782\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Open the <em>File Explorer<\/em> and right-click on the volume where you want to enable <em>Volume Shadow Copies<\/em>.
