Roaming Profiles<\/strong> allow users of an Active Directory Domain<\/strong> to access their desktop and documents from any PC of the domain.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a powerful feature that can improve the productivity of the employees and make their lives easier.<\/p>\n

The best thing about Roaming Profiles<\/strong> is how they are easy to set up.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Before configuring a Roaming Profile<\/strong>, we need to create a Share<\/em>. Open the Server Manager<\/em> and go to the Shares<\/em> tab:<\/p>\n

Create a new Share:<\/em><\/p>\n

Click Next:<\/em><\/p>\n

Specify the path of the Roaming Profiles<\/em>. Add a $<\/em> to the end of the path to make the shared folder invisible:<\/p>\n

Click Next:<\/em><\/p>\n

Enable access-based Enumeration<\/em> (for better security):<\/p>\n

Now it\u2019s time to customize the permissions. We need to allow the access to Domain Users<\/em> (or another Group). Click Customize permissions:<\/em><\/p>\n

Click Add:<\/em><\/p>\n

Select the group (Domain Users<\/em> in our example) and apply the permissions to This folder only<\/em>. You need to enable List folders \/ read data<\/em> and Create folders \/ append data:<\/em><\/p>\n

Confirm and the share will be created:<\/p>\n

Now the final step. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers<\/em> panel:<\/p>\n

Open the Properties<\/em> of a user and go to the Profile<\/em> tab. Specify the Profile Path:<\/em>\\\\server_name\\profile_folder_name\\%username%<\/code><\/p>\n
