At times you may even receive an <strong>Access Denied<\/strong> or a <strong>Corrupt Recycle Bin<\/strong> error message.<\/p>\n<p>In such a situation, you may need to repair or reset the Recycle Bin.<\/p>\n<h2>Recycle Bin is corrupted<\/h2>\n<p>Each drive on Windows, has a hidden and protected system folder called as <strong>$Recycle.bin<\/strong>. If you use the Unhide option from the Folder Options, you will be able to see this folder. When you delete files or folders from you desktop or any other folder, they are moved to the Recycle Bin folder for holding. But you may face a problem where your Recycle Bin gets corrupted and you have to repair or reset it.<\/p>\n<p>If you repair or reset it,\u00a0the Recycle Bin folder in Windows 10 \/ 8 \/ 7 gets deleted.\u00a0Windows will automatically\u00a0create a new $Recycle.bin folder. This is of course not a new feature, but has been present in Windows, since Windows XP at\u00a0least.<\/p>\n<p>To reset the Recycle Bin, open an elevated Command Prompt window from the Win+X menu in Windows 8. Then type the following command and hit ENTER:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<pre>rd \/s \/q C:\\$Recycle.bin\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-75601\" src=\"http:\/\/thewindowsclub.thewindowsclubco.netdna-cdn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Recycle-Bin-is-corrupted.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thewindowsclub.thewindowsclubco.netdna-cdn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Recycle-Bin-is-corrupted-400x210.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Recycle-Bin-is-corrupted.jpg 500w\" alt=\"Recycle Bin is corrupted\" width=\"500\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"gmw_\">This command will reset the $Recycle.bin folder which is present on the\u00a0 C drive. <em>You will have to do this for every partition on your hard disk, by replacing C with the drive letter\/s.<\/em> Be careful in using the correct command, lest you end up deleting the wrong files or directory!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Once you do this, the Recycle Bin folder and\u00a0all the\u00a0files and folders in it will be deleted.\u00a0 On computer restart, Windows will recreate a new Recycle Bin for you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If your Recycle Bin is corrupted, you can face various problems when using it.\u00a0 The Recycle Bin may not\u00a0show the files that you may have been deleted from your File Explorer, or you may be unable to delete the files in it \u2013 or even empty the Recycle Bin completely.
