The NET Command is used to manage network security resources as follows:<\/p>\n
View user account password and logon requirements (also displays the machine type – Server or workstation)
\nNET ACCOUNTS<\/p>\n
View password and logon requirements for the network domain.
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/DOMAIN<\/p>\n
Set the number of minutes a user has before being forced to log off when the account expires or valid logon hours expire
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/FORCELOGOFF:minutes<\/i> \/DOMAIN<\/p>\n
Prevent forced logoff when user accounts expire
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/FORCELOGOFF:NO \/DOMAIN<\/p>\n
Set the minimum number of characters for a password.
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/MINPWLEN:C<\/i> \/DOMAIN
\nThe range is 0-14 characters; the default is 6 characters.<\/p>\n
Set the maximum number of days that a password is valid.
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/MAXPWAGE:dd<\/i> \/DOMAIN
\nThe range is 1-49710; the default is 90 days.<\/p>\n
Set passwords to never expire.
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/MAXPWAGE:UNLIMITED \/DOMAIN<\/p>\n
Set a minimum number of days that must pass before a user can change a password (default = 0)
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/MINPWAGE:dd<\/i> \/DOMAIN<\/p>\n
Require that new passwords be different from ‘x’ number of previous passwords
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/UNIQUEPW:x<\/i> \/DOMAIN
\nThe range for ‘x’ is 1-24<\/p>\n
Synchoronise the user accounts database (PDC and BDC)
\nNET ACCOUNTS \/SYNC \/DOMAIN<\/p>\n
View user account details

Add a user account.
\nNET USER username<\/i> {password | *} \/ADD [options] [\/DOMAIN]<\/p>\n
Modify a user account.
\nNET USER [username<\/i> [password | *] [options]] [\/DOMAIN]<\/p>\n
Delete a username
\nNET USER username<\/i> [\/DELETE] [\/DOMAIN]<\/p>\n
Generate a random password:<\/p>\n
NET USER administrator \/random<\/p>\n
Add a group

Edit a group

Delete a group

Add a user to a group

To View, Add or modify a local group replace GROUP in the commands above with LOCALGROUP.<\/p>\n
