{"id":1023,"date":"2012-11-09T23:16:36","date_gmt":"2012-11-09T23:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/microsoftgeek.com\/?p=1023"},"modified":"2012-11-09T23:22:38","modified_gmt":"2012-11-09T23:22:38","slug":"google-apps-migration-for-microsoft-outlook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsoftgeek.com\/?p=1023","title":{"rendered":"Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Outlook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong id=\"internal-source-marker_0.17382800625637174\">Google\u2019s new PST migration tool<br \/>\nThe GAMMO tool allows you to import email, contacts and calendar items directly from an existing Outlook profile or a standalone PST file.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the purposes of this document, I created a brand new PST file called \u201cGoogleTest.pst\u201d. Within that PST file I created two folders, one called \u201cFolderA\u201d and one called \u201cFolderB\u201d. Each folder contained around 15 emails.<\/p>\n<p>Start by downloading the tool from Google\u2019s site at:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tools.google.com\/dlpage\/outlookmigration#utm_campaign=launch&amp;utm_source=entblog-gammo-0526&amp;utm_medium=blog\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/tools.google.com\/dlpage\/outlookmigration#utm_campaign=launch&amp;utm_source=entblog-gammo-0526&amp;utm_medium=blog<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will bring you to the download screen directly:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/hprGg0hb041RoZWhm3ydDFa-yh9cs4gg8W5eYaNWPutMcL6u-2o4K83c388lfSG10w3OXTFmtEbaY1s49kfTRaw2CN4TeS5V8HWNHOoQAP-_jztxUOo\" alt=\"\" width=\"600px;\" height=\"429px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on the \u201cDownload Migration Tool\u201d button. This will automatically bring up the installer.<br \/>\nWhen the installer completes its initial download it will bring up the installer wizard.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/0bdMVJ7IzoCJz3F8_xPxeI_rtlt129xuxJfer2ZAMPUok1DxX2xe2uKuKjzSB-_BIy2O5qs-eHcimrZ7x7IJiPsPG9InwQJwn__mST4-MQC61CFtRZg\" alt=\"\" width=\"486px;\" height=\"410px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click Next.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to sign in with your\u00a0 Gmail account (username@company.com).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/FmpTccNrAU4b80x4_EXvwocvKzqeY_9fEeMLvGY1FztwnDXwWDbIXHfY4zT6gufl6nXH5yaDJZ3kGMKCxmtULkekTXYlYtSd6zG7Y8f-kbYeDYJmdLQ\" alt=\"\" width=\"486px;\" height=\"410px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click Next<\/p>\n<p>You will then be taken to the user profile selection screen. The drop down menu will list all the currently available Outlook Profiles set up on your computer. GAMMO is fully installed on your PC and may now be run again in the future from the Start menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/V8uW2mVJEv3d1IyhFi1pehyldEA1EBoNqLmT-ieYwy9GuWj2L4eQbmtgTqN7yVw3BEzO-TWRGJcoqBrGD12rytFiCKogdIetO-o6eWnieGLdwcI_Q2M\" alt=\"\" width=\"504px;\" height=\"168px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click Close to exit the installer tool and return to your desktop.<\/p>\n<p>After completion, the GAMMO tool created two new labels in Gmail. The labels were named to correspond to the two folders that were created in the PST file:<\/p>\n<p>GoogleTest.pst\/FolderA<br \/>\nGoogleTest.pst\/FolderB<\/p>\n<p>These two labels had the correct items. They did not have any other labels attached to them, including \u201cinbox\u201d (ie.
